HSM Welcomes Dean Ferguson to the Team

Dean started his professional career in the NZ Police in 1999 and spent 5 ½ years working out of the Northshore/ Waitakere District in Auckland. Dean completed his Diploma in NZ Policing and promotional exams during this time. Dean then spent time in the UK where he worked for a large national service provider company doing Asset Protection – duties included liaising with high profile clients, local government, law enforcement agencies and border control. This also included protecting company assets and conducting risk assessments on new and ongoing ventures. Dean was involved in conducting Conflict Resolution training to on street staff and worked in collaboration with the Police in forming Partnerships. After 5 years in this role, Dean became a Fraud Investigator with a Health/ Life Insurer before moving into a more specialised Financial Control role. Dean specialised in implementing systems and controls to prevent and detect fraud and/or money laundering and was also involved in all fraud related training to both internal staff and agents and spoke at National Forums on Fraud Prevention.

As Risk Manager at HSM, Dean will be providing a wealth of experience in risk assessments and management for our clients as well as internally.  Services HSM will offer our clients going forward will include:

  • providing consultancy services in risk management,
  • introducing quality assurance services such as mystery shopping exercises and customer satisfaction surveys,
  • fraud awareness training including loss prevention and shrinkage reduction strategies,
  • health and safety audits to assist businesses with understanding their responsibilities under the Health and Safety Legislation,
  • conflict resolution awareness & training

Dean will be responsible for building strong relationships with our national clients providing an avenue for support and guidance from design stage through to job completion.  Dean is looking forward to taking on the challenge of his new role and working with a strong and talented team.
